Just to Bug you

Isn't it fun sometimes just to bug someone?!

I've made a card just for that purpose........kind of.
I was sent a digital image by Hambo Stamps (for FREE) called "Mosquito".  I received the image just for playing along in their weekly challenge at Hambo Hoedown.

I decided one mosquito was just not enough to really bug anyone, so....
I turned the single mosquito into a swarm!  Yuck!!!

That crazy background is 'Acrylic Embossing' that I learned of through the Technique Junkie Newsletter.  All I can tell you is that it uses acrylic paint, an embossing folder and ink.  After embossing and inking and more inking, I finished with Stazon White ink which I think perked it right up!

Yes, I KNOW that brad is a dragonfly, not a mosquito.  It IS a bug for heaven's sake. And that is going to have to be good enough.  I don't think anyone makes mosquito brads.

Here is the list of challenges entered:
Hambo Hoedown - use image with a monochromatic theme
2 Sisters - anything goes
Phindy's Place - doubling up
Stamp Something - something embellished
Crafty Creations - seeing double
The Stamping Boutique - cool colors
Tuesday Throwdown - something metallic
CES - humor, funny
Catch the Bug - heavy metal
The Crafty Pad - embossing
Paper Playtime - summer (nothing says summer like mosquitoes!)
Simon Says Stamp & Show - anything goes
Clear it Out - anything goes
The Cheerful Stamp Pad - going around in circles

Thanks for stopping by!

Do You Stack Up? Challenge #29

Maybe you have an idea of our new challenge this week from my snippet?
Just to make sure you DO know what the new DYSU challenge is:
We want to see your creations with wings: chicken wings, angel wings, fairy wings, bug wings, etc.
We have a bunch of prizes to reward your efforts should you be a lucky random winner!

The Stamping Boutique is giving away FIVE digis of the winner's choice!

Tlc Creations will award the winner with a $10 Gift Certificate!

Pixie Dust Studio is giving away THREE digis of the winner's choice!

**************************************
And now for my card:  I chose a sentiment from Tlc Creations called "Watch Me Soar" which inspired me to make a CAS (clean & simple) card.  I wanted to be sure to showcase the sentiment.

My initial idea was to emboss a frame for the sentiment AND emboss a pattern on the card front.  I could not figure out how to do them at the same time, so I had a bit of a struggle on my hands.

If anyone knows of a sure fire way of getting this effect, I would love to be informed of it!

The butterfly was stamped with black Staz-on onto an acetate sheet.  Ranger Alcohol inks were sponged on the back side.  Then I cut it out and glued it on the card with Glossy Accents.

I could only find a few challenges that this card could qualify:
Clear it Out - anything goes
The Stamping Boutique - cool colors
If you need some inspiration, check out the works by the rest of the Design Team over at DYSU.  They are fabulous!

Walking the Bug

I love this image by Designed2Delight.called "April Showers"!  It just makes me smile every time I see it.

The image is colored with Prismacolor pencils & OMS.  The green grass was stamped with a weave stamp using Ranger's Pine Needles Distress ink.

I used my Cuttlebug Daisy Quilled flower set of dies and made my 1st flower with the set.  I have to say, the packaging of the set is terrific.  It even came with a sample flower - which just happens to have the same colors as the one I made.  I could have used the sample, but what fun is that?

Challenges entered:
Simon Says - anything goes
Moving Along with the Times - favorite things (making flowers, twine)
Really Reasonable Ribbon - cool it
Stamps R Us - through the garden gate
Digi Doodles - make your own flowers
Pollycraft - summer fun
I Did it Creations - animals
Paper Playtime - summer
Stamptacular Sunday - animal antics (stamped weave pattern on grass)
Clear it Out - anything goes

Right now there are 2 challenges going on over at the Designed2Delight blog that you should get in on! Every week there is a progressive FREE image challenge and a Design Team challenge.  This week the Design Team wants Tropical Beachy cards.  You could win a D2D image!  But only if you enter.

Rolling, rolling, rolling....

Rolling over your present.....
Hey, this wasn't my idea.  It belongs to Hambo Stamps.

They sent me this digital stamp called 'Steamroller' for FREE last week for joining in on their progressive challenge.  And it came with this sentiment!
Love it!

He is working in a rock quarry where there is beautiful marble stone.  The background is a combination of 2 techniques from the Technique Junkie Newsletter, namely  Brayered Spots with Webbing on top.

Not much to say about this card, because it is a MAN's card or it could really be sent to anyone.

Challenges entered:
Hambo Hoedown - use Steamroller on a gate fold card
Creative Inspirations - no flowers allowed
Simon Says - anything goes
Sentimental Sundays - for the men in your life
Sweet Stampin' - its one for the boys

Aloha! from Designed2Delight

Where is my mind today?  I completely forgot to check the D2D blog this morning to see if my card was posted.  In my defense, I was trying to get things ready for my son to visit.

I'm here now, with my card for the D2D Designer's Challenge "Let's go to the Beach".  I was just at the beach about a week ago, so I'm still in a very tropical mood as you can see by my card!

I picked three different D2D images to use: Palm Tree (Dollar Digi), Flip Flops (Dollar Digi) & Tropical Summer Hibiscus.  What fun I had playing around with these!

I wanted to get away from using Designer Paper for my background.  So, I grabbed one of my sheets of 'Cling & Scrunch' backgrounds made with dye inks, water and cling wrap from the kitchen.  Got the technique from the Technique Junkies Newsletter.  I did add some sheen by adding Twinkling H2Os to the ink & water.  Of course that doesn't show in the photograph.

On top of the 'Cling & Scrunch' background I embossed the word Aloha from a Provo Craft stamp set.

Here are the challenges the card is entered into:
Digital Tuesday - spellbound
Tuesday Throwdown - fun in the sun
Pollycraft Monday - the great outdoors
Stampin Sisters in Christ - what works for you (ribbon)
Crafts & Me - summertime
Simon Says Stamp - anything goes
Party Time Tuesdays - blue skies & sunny days
The Crafty Pad - lots of texture
Moving Along with the Times - favorite things (ribbon & bg tech)
Craft your Passion - just for you
Really Reasonable Ribbon - cool it
Mark's Finest Paper - bright & cheery, pink, yellow, & green
The Stamping Boutique - summer scene
The Cheerful Stamp Pad - my favorite background (cling & scrunch)
I Did it Creations - floral
Sentimental Sundays - inky fingers (cling & scrunch bg)

Please visit the Designed2Delight blog for the challenge and to see the other Design Team members creations.  Going on also is the Free image challenge which you can find here.  This week's freebie is a beautiful peacock.  Hope to see you there!!

Do You Stack Up? Challenge #27

Are you up for another Do You Stack Up? challenge?  Where were you last week??

We didn't have a whole lotta entries for our chipboard challenge.  Maybe you will like to do some real or faux stitching.  Hope so!  We missed you!!!

Let's discuss the prizes up for grabs:
Mami Doodles is giving the winner four digital images!

Robyn's Fetish is awarding the winner her choice of either 5 digital stamps or 4 digital stamps & 1 paper pack!
**************************************
And now for your inspiration I will show you my card for the challenge.

I chose this cute image by Mami Doodles called 'Lil Luke goes Fishing'.  He's a cutey! He looks like he doesn't quite know what to do with the fish he caught.

I had just gotten a pack of the Paper Studio's cards so I wanted to use one of those.  To go with the card base I found papers from October Afternoon's Detours collection.  And I did real stitching to adhere them.  First time I have tried out this particular fancy stitch - I like it!

I colored the image with my Prismacolor pencils and OMS and inked the edge of the oval with Ranger Distress inks.  Believe it or not, that is a dark brown gross grain ribbon - not black!

This card will be entered into the following challenges:
Digital Tuesday - spellbound
Tuesday Throwdown - fun in the sun
Pollycraft Monday - the great outdoors
Stampin Sisters in Christ - what works for you (ribbon)
Sweet Stampin - cute & cuddly
2 Sisters - summer time fun
Stamps R Us - through the garden gate
Crafts & Me - summertime
Fab 'n' Funky - bakers dozen (fish is food)
Simon Says Stamp - anything goes
Crafty Creations - boyz-to-men
Simon Says Stamp and Show - stitching
Catch the Bug - CAS
Party Time Tuesdays - blue skies & sunny days
The Crafty Pad - lots of texture
Sugar Creek Hollow - paper piercing (does sewing count?)

Please pop on over to the DYSU blog for more and better inspiration.  We have some really talented gals on the DT!  They put my work to shame!

Aged to Perfection

Hi!  I thought I would post my Designed2Delight card I recently made.  It was posted last week on the D2D blog while I was at the beach.

Posting it here, allbeit late, let's me give you more details.  If I can remember them.

I combined 2 images of D2D, 'Happy Rabbit' & 'Doodle Cake'.  Used my Distress inks to color the image.  Actually used my deckle scissors to cut the image out!  How old school can you get?

I had picked out some papers from my new paper pad by Fancy Pants - Its the little things collection.  I thought a vintage feel went well with these papers, so I sponged Distress inks on all the edges of the papers.

You know, D2D is having a challenge right now right here called 'European Inspired'.  You can use any image you wish and make anything with a European flair to it.  I think this card would qualify, don't you?  [Hurry, you only have until Saturday 1a.m. EST. Also the free image challenge is going on here until Thursday 11:59p.m. EST.]

When I crocheted that flower, I was just starting to try to crochet flowers for my cards.  I quickly learned that yarn makes a BIG flower!  Didn't think this flower would ever be used, but I managed to squeeze it on there.

The little line of beads is from a spool of trim I bought to use on cards.  Turns out it is very difficult to glue on!  Not recommending this for anyone.

Also NOT recommending the Cloud 9 stamps I used on this card.  It was a nice big set of various birthday quotes that certainly would be useful.  Well, I have noticed that the line spacing is not parallel.   And not just on one stamp!  Don't get these!!!!

Okay, that's my good deed for the day.  Have a great crafting day!
