Designed2Delight Blog Hop

Hi! Maybe you have hopped over here from Pat's blog, or maybe you have popped in from elsewhere, but either way, Welcome!

Today is Designed2Delight's March Reveal day with all the new images for the month being revealed. In honor of that we are having a blog hop to show off some of the new digital images. Some blogs will be giving away a prize...could mine be one of them?!  I'll be giving away one of the new images, so leave me a message and you will be in the drawing for it!

Also, for 3 days all the new images are 20% off!  Great deal!

My first card is the image called 'Drenched'.  I've felt this way before!  I used to live in Houston, and  boy can it pour there!!

Designed2Delight offers images in three file styles, one of which is the white-filled.  This opens up lots of creative possibilities that the transparent files do not offer.

I used one of the transparent sentiments of the set and copied it multiple times across the background.  I used the white-filled image on top, and since I used the white-filled image,  the writing doesn't show through.  Love that!!

For my second reveal card, I used 'Ladybugs'. I first picked out an adorable paper by My Mind's Eye 'Lime Twist' that seemed to have a similar look to the Ladybug image.

The image is colored with Prismacolor pencils and I added pearls to the ladybug heads.  Also added a butterfly from the coordinating paper.

Well, that's it for my part of the month's reveal. Please hop on over to Kathy C's blog for some darling projects!

Thanks for hopping by!

Designed2Delight Spring Chicks

Oh, I can't wait for Spring!  Some days it seems like Spring already and then other days we are back to dreary winter. All the plants and trees are thoroughly confused.

To brighten my mood til Spring actually gets here, I've been working on Spring cards.
This is Designed2Delight's Spring Chicks. I think they are the cutest chickies!

I water-colored the image with Ranger Distress inks. I'm not crazy about my coloring of the butterfly because he is so bright, he seems to be stealing the spotlight.

I followed a sketch I found on Catch the Bug right here. I turned the sketch on its side to better fit the size of the image. The sketch was just the inspiration I needed to make this card!

I'm entering this card in the following challenges:
Stamp Man - Colours of Spring / Easter
2 Sisters - Anything goes
Send a Smile for Kids - Spring/Easter for Kids
One Stitch At A Time - Use a Digi- Spring/Easter

Designed2Delight Reveal Day

It's that time of month that Designed2Delight reveals the month's new digital images. And in conjunction we are having a blog hop. Probably how you got here!

I think you are going to love each and every one of the new images. They are the cutest collection of characters and images for Spring and Easter.

For my first card I chose 'Easter Egg Tulips'.

I didn't want to do the usual small image on top of a background. I wanted the image to be the whole card!
Kinda bigger than life.
I printed on watercolor paper and used Ranger Distress inks to color.
I printed a D2D sentiment from 'Lovely Day' and inserted it behind the bow by cutting a slit with an Exacto knife.

My second card is in Warhol fashion.
I have been wanting to do a Warhol card for the longest time and keep forgetting.

This cute doggie is called 'Spring Fetch'.

The rest of the Design Team has some terrific cards so keep on hopping over to Debbie's blog.
Thanks for hopping by!

Tissue Box A2 Card Holder

Have you seen this idea? This is a great use of a tissue box.
I have a friend who is a bit of a ladybug fan right now (Hi Fran!!)
So, I used Designed2Delight's digital image 'Love Bug's Heart Strings'.  She's a little girl dressed up in a ladybug costume.

I thought you might like to know how to go about making one of these tissue box containers.

Use a Kleenex brand box to fit the measurements exactly.  I used a Puffs tissue box and needed to trim just a tad on some pieces.

So, check your piece against the box before gluing anything down.
What you will need:
Solid cardstock - 4 inside walls 5" by 4.25"
                         - 2 bottom pieces (inside and out) 4.25" by 4.25"
                         - 1 outside piece 5" by 11", scored at 1", 5.5" and 10" and
                         - another outside piece 5" by 9", scored at 4.5" ( may need to trim ends to fit)
Pattern Paper - 5 outside pieces (4 walls and a bottom) all 4" by 4"
                      - 4 fold over flaps 4.25" by 4", scored at 2" and folded in half.

First thing to do is carefully open the tissue box and cut off the top sections until you have this remaining--->.
I chose to cover my box with black cardstock.  I did not want the exposed edges to show so I painted all the edges black on the inside and out.  You could use a matching marker instead of paint.

Basically you cover the inside and out with the solid color cardstock. There is a video here on how to make the box that is excellent.

I failed to take anymore in process pictures, (sorry!!!) so I hope you can cover a box on your own. At this point adhere your outside pattern paper pieces next.  Then adhere the fold over flaps. Its really pretty darn easy!

I think once you make one and see how easy it is to do and how sturdy this box is, you'll want to make lots more!

Challenges for this box:

Stamp Man -  Texture
Wags 'n Whiskers - Home Decoration

D2D Bear's Heart Balloon

This image is part of this month's new release by Designed2Delight, called Bear's Heart Balloon.  He was colored with watercolors and Twinkling H2Os.

I have recycled here!  The mat for the image and the border were cut from this package insert pictured to the left.

It was one of those happy coincidences where I had just colored my image and shortly thereafter brought the packaging to my craft desk. And I noticed the colors matched the Bear's bow-tie and an idea was born!
Love that when it happens!!
I just wish it was more often. *sigh*

 Thanks for popping in,

It's a new thing

New things are happening over at Designed2Delight!  Faith is having a new monthly reveal of all her new digital images for the month. Please check out her blog on the 20th of every month for the monthly reveal. There will be a challenge each time with the chance to win a free image too!

And to celebrate and introduce you to all the designers for Designed2Delight, we are having a Blog Hop! I'm glad you hung in there and hopped over to my little ole blog. (yeah, I'm in the south!)

Let me show you my first card:
I chose Designed2Delight's 'Birdie's Valentine'.

I used Microsoft Word to insert the image, resize it, copy it over & over and to turn the image various ways.  I guess i could have also inverted it to a mirror image, but I didn't think of that!! (maybe next time...)

This is on watercolor paper and I used Derwent watercolor pencils and a water brush to color the images.
For the letters, I used my wooden letter set by Stampabilities that I picked up recently for half price. (love that!)

I did a sloppy ink job on the edges of the letters to give them character.  Gives it that nice home-made touch, don't ya think?!

Now for card number 2:

Isn't he a happy snowman? He is Designed2Delight's 'Rainbow Snowman'. I colored him with my Prismacolor pencils and popped him up on top of a stamped Hero Arts cloudy sky background.

And I gave him a polka-dot butterfly for company.

Thanks so much for participating in our blog hop. From here please go on to Michele H. and see her great creations! Also don't forget to go to Designed2Delight and get in on the new challenge. See ya there!!
