Homemade Bridesmaids' Bouquets

A couple of days ago I posted about the silk Boutonnieres and Corsages I had made for the upcoming wedding of my dear son.

Now you lucky dogs get to see what I have made for the 5 bridesmaids!
I took the plain round hanging bouquet that you can purchase at Hobby Lobby and ripped it apart.  It just wasn't special enough.  We want to save money, but have some pizazz too!
Here is what the bouquet looked like before I tore it apart:
It has large open roses with a leaf and a little organza ribbon hanging out here and there.  The bride wanted a bit of sparkle. And we wanted hand held bouquets.

So, I made the one you see to the left.
The organza and leaves from the store-bought one were eliminated .
I fashioned a Styrofoam ball into roughly a half round and added the open roses from the store-bought one, as well as small rose buds.
Pearl berries and crystal accents were also added.

Here is a view from the underneath of the bouquet.

The colors for the wedding are ivory and red.  We wanted both colors in the bridesmaids bouquets and this is how we went about it.

I took store-bought bouquet holders like the one to the left and did a bit of modification.

First, the ruffle had to go and then the plastic lace piece was cut off. I basically got it back to just being a cup with a hole in it!

A bit of ribbon wrapping and viola!

I hope you have enjoyed seeing what I have been working. Playing might be a better term because I really enjoyed it!

Homemade Wedding Boutonnieres and Corsages

We have a wedding coming up in the family pretty soon.  In order to save money, I have been tasked with making all the floral decorations.
Yay!  I love doing stuff with florals!

My next few blog posts will probably be about the different items I have made for the wedding.
I know I enjoy seeing things like this, even before I had a wedding coming up. So, I'm going to share what I have done.

We wanted rather minimalist Boutonnieres and Corsages and this is what I came up with:
Just a simple rose for the guys and not much more for the ladies.

Thanks for looking!

So silly

I finally got around to looking at my copy of Just Cards magazine.

Imagine my surprise to find a second card of mine in there!!
Really observant, aren't I?!!

To my defense, the picture is not the greatest and the color is off.

See, you can't even tell that is a ribbon rose on there!

I had a good laugh to see I had missed my own card being in there.
Thanks for Looking!

Surprise Publishing

Just Cards! is about to come out, or is at your local store.  Over a year and a half ago I sent them two or three cards.

One was finally published a few months (half a year??) ago. I was happily surprised then, just as I am now.

It has been so long since I bothered to submit cards that I have no idea what I have sent them.

If I do say so myself, I think it is a darn cute card (below) that I made with one of Dustin Pike's cute digital images.
Looks better in real life!!
I hope to find time to be blogging again real soon, as I have some wedding flowers I have made for my son's pending wedding I want to show off.  Stay tuned!!

A Season of Thanks

Hello.
It will soon be the special time of year where we all give thanks for all of our blessings.
In honor of that time, I have made a card with Designed2Delight's Stitched Pumpkin and Harvest Basket.

I love the Affinity collection by the Paper Studio and this is one of the card bases. The center DP is Basic Grey's Indian Summer.

Just to make sure I had enough leaves on the card, I added a leaf brad.

Going on right now over at the Designed2Delight blog are two challenges: the progressive Free Image challenge and the Saturday themed challenge.
The free image sent out on Friday was the beautiful Autumn Mums and all one has to do is use it on their entry. Then a new free image will be sent to them on Friday.
The Saturday challenge is 'Die Cut Divas'.  Yay, I use them all the time, except for this card! Oh well. You must use 2 or more die cuts (or punches) on your entry. You could win a free Designed2Delight image!

Challenges I have found for this card are:
Critter Sketch - Anything Goes
Digi Makeover Challenge - Re-size Your Digi's
Daisy Doodles Creative Challenge - Fall Colors and/or Thanksgiving
Paper Pretties - Fall Inspired
Ooh La La Creations - Punches/Dies

Designed2Delight Challenge - Girls and Glitter

For only the second time in the whole history of the world, I'm hosting this week's challenge at Designed2Delight(a little melodramatic, don't ya think?!)

 Everyone loves Glitter, right?
And the majority of us are girls, right?

So, Girls and Glitter it is for the challenge!!
First, a close-up of my glittery creation.  You can actually see the glitter in this picture! I used Art Institute Glitter which I consider to be the most sparkly.  IMHO.

The whole project is below.
Isn't Designed2Delight's 'Spring Kaela' the sweetest?
She was colored with Ranger Distress inks. I substituted the larger bouquet in the set for her hand and popped it up.

The sentiment and butterfly are from Designed2Delight's Bloom, Grow, Dream set.

I decided it was time for me to try something different for my project and I came across this notebook holder at Shelly's Images blog. She has a nice tutorial here which I failed to follow exactly. *chagrin*

By the Cute and Girly - all things bright and beautiful

Designed2Delight Challenge - Anniversary

It's the Designed2Delight Design Team Challenge that starts today.  And we are asking for Anniversary cards. I need this challenge, because I don't seem to ever think of making anniversary cards. Maybe you need prompting too?

For this challenge, you may use any image, or a Designed2Delight image. And as you probably know, you have the chance to win a Designed2Delight image!  All the details are on the D2D blog.

Hmmm, what image should I use for an anniversary card, I wondered? I chose D2D's "Drew's Cupcake". I liked the fact that he had lots of presents.  (my kind of guy!)
He is colored with Ranger Distress Inks, which I have been neglecting for quite a while. I had to get out of my 'rut' and do a bit of water-coloring.  Also did some paper piecing for the presents.

Wow, has it been ages since I used Dew Drops!  For awhile everyone was using them and when I finally get some, they aren't the rage anymore.  Well, tough, I thought this card could be enhanced with a row of them.  So typical for me, being behind the times!!

Challenges entered:
Stampin' Sisters in Christ - Choose at least 3 (Ribbon, Button, & Popped up Image)
Daisy Doodles Creative Challenge - Anything Goes
Pink ElephantPaper Piecing
Woodware USA - 3 different Papers, 2 different Embellishments and 1 Image
Tuesday Morning Sketches - #109 Sketch
Creative Card Crew - Anything Goes
Partytime Tuesdays - PTT #31 Anything Goes
Stamp-N-Doodle - Anniversary/Wedding
Crafty Creations - punch/diecut
Craft Us Crazy - Autumn Colors or Favorite Embellishments (crackled heart)
Some Odd Girl - Paper Piecing

I really hope you will get some time to join in on this challenge.  For some super inspiration, go see the examples we have on the D2D blog. And, while you are there, check out the SOTM challenge that is also going on. Another chance to get free images!

D2D Just for Fun!

When I first saw the single flower in Designed 2 Delight's "Fun Flower" set, I thought it would be a great image to use to create my own background.
And it does!!

Using MS Word, I chose two sizes for the flower and copied and pasted them all over the page.  I turned them around, flipped a few and brought some to the front of the others.  Generally I played around and had a good time, which is my main goal!  *whee!*

Challenges I found for this card:
Craft Us Crazy  - Anything goes in August
Digi's With Attitude! - anything goes
Crafty Calendar -  August: Hot Colours!
Stamping Scrapping Central - anything goes
Victorine Originals - Summer
Creative Card Crew - Anything Goes

Stamp-N-Doodle - Anniversary/Wedding & OR Two or more circles on your project
Daisy Doodles Creative Challenge - Anything Goes

One is the progressive challenge where you receive a free image every week for participating.
The other challenge is "Winter or Christmas for a Child" which is open until Friday Midnight EST. You have a chance to win a free D2D image.

*************************************************
The image I used this week is from The Stamping Boutique and it is called 'Prince Lonnie Latte'.
He makes a great summer card:
Just to get out of the Designer paper rut, I decided to make my own background using a resist technique with some flame stamps and Ranger Distress inks.  First I sponged on a yellow(I've forgotten the name at the moment) ink and then orange(Marmalade) over part of the yellow.  Then I Clear embossed the flame stamps. I sponged more orange and then red(Fired Brick) before ironing off the embossing.  Then more sponging of the red & burgundy inks. Can you tell I love sponging?!
Boy, Lonnie is really in the heat! Lonnie doesn't get out much to grill (that's why he is so pale) so he has done a terrible job and burned his burger.  And he is in a pissy mood so he is waving away his beloved latte.  His wife is probably yelling at him to drink his latte so she can take over the grilling!  I know I would be!!
Gee, such a happy story I've dreamed up!  LOL

Anyway, in light of all the activity that is starting to take place in trying to plan and arrange for this wedding, I am stepping down from my DT position. I'm going to miss it terribly and especially all the wonderful ladies on the team!!
*okay, I'm getting misty*

I will still be making cards now and then, as that keeps me sane!

Thanks for coming by and please look at the rest of the Design Team's contributions here.

Designed2Delight challenge Anything Goes

 Hi peeps!
Today I want to show you the card I made for the Designed2Delight 'Anything Goes' challenge going on now through Friday midnight EST.
Do you see that crocheted lace?!  I made that!!
Yup, I really did, and it wasn't hard to do either.  I liked this pattern because it had the perfect openings to weave lace through.

This D2D image is 'Sitting Kaela' which is part of the 'Ladybug Kaela' set.  I tried to give her some red hair, but apparently I have no clue as to how to do that! *sigh*

Challenges I found to enter:

Crafty Ann's - scallops and or fancy borders
Jellypark Challenges - favorite embellishments (pearls)

Do You Stack Up? Challenge #33

Are you ready for another challenge?  I think you will agree that it is easy:

Everyone needs a stash of Thank You cards, so that is what we want to see.
Please check the Do You Stack Up? blog for our requirements and outstanding inspiration pieces.
This week's Sponsors:

Prairie Fairy
$10 Gift Certificate

Crafty Emma
£10 Gift Voucher

Little Claire
Bike Set Stamp

****************************************
So, what have I done for this challenge?  I was looking at a piece of patterned cardstock and an idea came to mind for the image I picked out this week.
I had chosen "Mouse Flowers" by Little Claire. The paper I was looking at was a compilation of borders. I would love to tell you which paper I used, but the identification edge was cut off and I can't find my note where I wrote that info down. I know I'm the only one who does that!

I used my trusty Prismacolor pencils to color the image to match the paper.  So much easier than trying to find a DP to match an image I have already colored!

The 'Thank you" by Stampin Up was stamped on the bottom border to mimic the top border.

Challenges I am entering:
One Stitch at a Time - anything goes
Simon Says Stamp & Show - show some bling
Stamp Scrap & Doodle Sat. - photo inspiration (I used the colors)
Gingerloft - make it sparkle
Wags N Whiskers - sparkly
Frosted Designs - animals
Jellypark - use fav embellishment (gems)
Paper Playtime - anything goes
Paper Crafting Journey - anything goes
Shelly's Inages - anything goes
Stamp Insanity - anything goes
Craft Us Crazy - anything goes

Art Impressions - anything goes
Sundays with Crissy - kiss
Top Tip Tuesday - thank you

I'll be looking for lots of Thank You's this week. (the DYSU challenge)

My blog posting is late today as I really was not so sure my card would be posted on the challenge blog.
You see, I made my own background.  With markers!
I guess I just felt like doodling.

Have a Wonderful Day

Have a wonderful day and do something creative!

Here I have made a reminder card for Design2Delight DT's Saturday challenge which is 'BLING'.  You still have time to get something made and entered into the challenge.  Go here for all the details!

I used the easy to color Design2Delight 'Fresh Cut' for my card and colored with Prismacolor pencils and OMS. For bling I added Stickles' dots here and there in amongst the flowers & hearts. Also Stickled the edge of the sentiment oval.

For additional bling, I painted some of the clouds with Iridescent Medium which adds a pretty glimmer.  And I added two HUGE gold rhinestones to the upper right corner of the card and a pretty glittered dragonfly right beside the flowers.

I think I used every type of bling I own!!

Challenges I've entered this card:
The Cheerful Stamp Pad - petals
Stamp Something - use a digi
Charisma Cardz - bingo (flowers, gems, circles(dots?))
