My Hero

My hero is a toucan?  I guess he is today. And he is proud of it--look at him strut his stuff!
This handsome fellow is from Hambo Stamps.  I colored him with Prismacolor pencils and distressed all the paper edges with Ranger Distress inks. (just because its so fun!)
The card had to follow a sketch this week and as usual I just followed the sketch.  There was plenty of room to add flowers or some sort of embellishment, but I was at a loss.  Actually, I was afraid I'd mess it up!  Can anyone out there in eland relate??

Challenges this card will enter are:
Hambo Hoedown - use Bird Hero and sketch
Paper Play - get sentimental
I must go and create something else now,
buh-bye

Enjoy Life

As threatened promised, here is my second try on the Clearly iStamp challenge sketch. No need to adjust your monitors, that duck IS on green cardstock.  WHAT, what, what possessed me to stamp on green?!?  I really don't know and I hope I remember never to do that again.  It just looks dull IMHO.
I used Distress inks to color the image and a little Stickles on the water.

This card is being entered into these challenges:
I Did It Creations - anything goes
Stampin' Sisters in Christ - use some green
Clearly iStamp - sketch and CDS stamps
Digital Tuesday - punches
Simon Says Stamp & Show - show some stripes
Whimsie Doodles - from the garden

Thanks for dropping by,

Do You Stack Up Challenge #8 Anything Goes!

Do You Stack Up has an easy challenge this week.  Everyone should be able to enter!
Anything Goes!  Yea!  Enter anything you make Today through next Wednesday.  I'm expecting 400+ entries from all of you!
Our wonderful Sponsors this week are Black Leaf Studios and Stitchy Bear Digital Stamps.  You'll need to check the DYSU blog to see what prizes they are offering the winner.
I used one of the frames out of Black Leaf Studios set Chic Frames.  Well, actually I used two frames by putting one inside the other.  There's lots of things you can do with these neat frames!
Of course, a frame has to frame something, so I picked a sentiment of Raindrop Echo Designs to use. To spotlight the beautiful swirly frame, I hand-stitched a border on red cardstock.  Then I hand-cut a white border the old fashioned way with fancy scissors.  That was nerve-racking scary!
I hope you will be encouraged to try using digital frames in your artwork.  I can't wait to see all the entries in this week's challenge!

Needle Lift?

This is a card following the sketch at Clearly iStamp blog.  I used Clear Dollar Stamps 'Cute Critter'.  It has several corny sayings like this one.  I struggled all through the process of making this card and I'm still not thrilled with it.  *wahhhhh*
I may try to make another card using this sketch and the same stamp set to see if I can do better.  [I know what you're thinking---surely she can do better!!]  Careful, you might hurt my itty bitty feelings,..... not!
This porcupine is a rare breed of sparkly, glittery porcupines and is revered by all other breeds.  Unfortunately I was not able to snap a picture of the glittery beauty so you will have to take my word on it that it is incredible!!!  lol
I'm entering this card in the following challenges:
Clearly iStamp - sketch and CDS stamps
Creative Card Crew - friendship
Digi Doodle Shops Best - anything goes
Stamp Something -  something funky
Digital Tuesday - use a die cut and digi image
PaperPlay - add shine (embossed image & used Stickles)
Cute Card Thursday - shiney happy cards (embossed image & used Stickles)
I Did It Creations - anything goes
Stampin' Sisters in Christ - use some green
I'm off to conquer that sketch.  Thanks for dropping by.

Warm Wishes

Yes, Warm wishes to everyone.  It has been a little bit warmer the last few days here and that has been nice.  What I enjoy most is the return of the sun!  I don't like gray winter days.
This card just says Florida to me!  I always liked seeing pelicans around Florida.  So sad their numbers are declining.
The pelican is my reward for joining the challenge last week at Hambo Hoedown.  All the other stamps I used are Clear Dollar Stamps.  I masked the pelican and then brayered chalk inks to create the sea and sand. Then I used Ranger Distress inks to water-color the pelican and shells.  I used a white gel pen to add 'waves' to the water.
I'm entering this card in the following challenges:
Hambo Hoedown - use Pelican image, blue, brown & tans beach scene
Creative Inspirations - plain and simple
Creative Card Crew - friendship
Digital Tuesday - use a die cut
Claudia & Co - about a boy
Digi Doodle Shops Best - anything goes
Now I'm going to go outside, even if it is super windy!  I know I can find something to do outdoors!

Do You Stack Up Challenge #7 Dots

Can it be week #7 already?  Seems like Do You Stack Up was just born a few weeks ago.  Now DYSU is on Facebook too.
Well, it is week #7 and the challenge is DOTS, lots of dots.

Our sponsors are JLJ Designs at Stitchy Bear Stamps and A Day for Daisies.
JLJ Designs at Stitchy Bear Stamps will be giving the winner their choice of 3 digital images.  A Day for Daisies is offering a $16 gift certificate to the winner.  Terrific prizes!!

I do believe I got Lots of Dots on my card, hee he he.  I used JLJ Designs' cute image Sugarplum Fairy.  I paired a sentiment from Tlc Creations with Sugarplum to look as though she is holding the heart/sentiment.
I used BasicGrey paper to paper piece her dress and for the background.  I water colored her with Ranger Distress inks and added Stickles to her wings so she would have some sparkle.  A bow seemed to be just the thing to finish her dress.
I hope you are inspired to join the challenge at DYSU.  I look forward to seeing lots of dots!

BasicGrey - hearts & BasicGrey item

The Eyes are on You

Love is in the eye(s) of the beholder.  And I do I love this guy!  He's adorable with his little heart!  He was emailed to my by Hambo Stamps for participating in their challenge last week.
This week entrants were to use Eye Monster, a sentiment and an additional heart.  My extra heart is a luscious purple.
The background paper was made using a technique called Acrylic Emboss from the Technique Junkies newsletter.  I figured a weird little monster called for a weird artsy background!

I'm entering this card in the following challenges:
Hambo Hoedown - use Eye Monster image
Charisma Cardz - mythical, fantasy
Crafty Sentiments Designs - Valentine/love
Stamp Something - Something for you Valentine

Do You Stack Up Challenge #6 Ribbon

Do You Stack Up is starting another challenge today and the challenge is to use RIBBON.  Oh, no problem there!

I want to tell you about the prizes being offered.  We have two sponsors for this challenge.

Our first sponsor is Kristens Powers Ink.
Kristen's Etsy shop is full of sweet hand
drawn illustrations. Kristens Powers Ink
(KPink) is giving the winner five free
digital images from her shop.
Bugaboo Stamps is our second sponsor for the challenge.
The winner will get to choose seven digital images from
the Bugaboo store.  Bugaboo's images are cute and full
of attitude!
I chose Bugaboo's Tons of Love Elephant to use for my card.  I added a sentiment I typed up myself.  I water colored the image with Ranger Distress Inks.  I used Stampin Up little heart stamp for the background on the card base.
The colorful background has Autumn Leaves and Inkadinkadoo hearts used in a technique called Rainbow Double from the Technique Junkie Newsletter.
I was so happy to be able to use one of the flowers I crocheted!  My double bow was awful not the best and the flower really helped make it presentable.
I hope my card and the rest of the design team's cards encourage you to create something today!
