So the year ends

I have gotten over the need to bring in the New Year with drinks and partying.  And I've never had the need to publicly profess my resolutions, so if that's what you want to see, you might as well move on.  Boring, ain't I?

Since Priscillastyles offered this free image for attending an online party, I attended!  To attend I had to make a card with it and this is what I came up with.
From what I vaguely remember of celebrating New Years, there should be noise-makers to really do it up right.  I figured I could make my own little noise-makers for my card.  Just to be different.  Maybe I was fooling myself thinking I could make these look decent.  They are different, ya gotta give them that!
I wish I had made the sentiment bigger.  *sigh* I could barely color in the letters.
On the other hand, I was very happy to remember that I had a champagne bottle button!  It was all green though.  Dull green.  I used Folk Art Metallic Gold paint to paint a gold label on it.  Worked like a charm!  I do think the bottle button was a major improvement to the card.
I forgot to send it out to someone.  Oh well, maybe next year.  Have a happy and safe New Years.

Whimsical Cardinals

Last week Designed 2 Delight digital stamps gave away several images of these whimsical cardinals.  The challenge is to create a card and enter it on Faith's blog so you will be eligible for another freebie.  LOVE that!!  Can't beat that with a stick!!!!

This is an unusual card for me in that the image portion is the whole card.  And why not?!
Also unusual for me is not knowing whom to attribute the sentiment I used.  I must have spent the last half hour trying to track down the designer with no luck.  If you know who's sentiment this is, please leave a comment and I will give the proper credit here.
One aspect of Faith's images that I enjoy is that she gives them in PNG format.  I can use several images together in an overlapping fashion which is what I have done on this card.  One of the little joys of life.  Yes, I'm easily amused!

Technically speaking

I did have a white Christmas.  Just technically, since it was around 10pm before it started snowing.  Does that really count?  It was soooo beautiful in the morning.
All the snow reminded my of this card I made a week or so ago.
I would love to be out sledding in the snow with wild abandon.  Then I remember my age and think maybe I should stay in and make cards with snow on them.  Yes, that's my speed these days.  If I did go sledding I would probably look a lot like this fellow by Designed 2 Delight.  I think he looks like he is thinking "I know I look silly, but I don't care!"  I did not have a snazzy wordart with that phrase, but I did have "Free to be ME" by Raindrop Echo Designs which was just perfect.
If you want to know about any of the details for making this card, leave a comment and I will get you the info.
Thanks for dropping by!

I'm dreaming of a White Christmas

I'm still dreaming because it hasn't started snowing yet.  The weather forecasters believe we are going to get some snow by noon today.  I haven't had a white Christmas in decades (that would be more than 2, but that's all the detail I'm willing to impart).  I am e x c i t e d !!

Have you heard?!?

There is a new challenge blog in etown.  Do You Stack Up is the new blog with weekly challenges on every Thursday.  Lots of sponsors are lined up and some great candy is being given away right now!

Have you heard of Stretch 'N Bubbles Digital Stamp Shop? Alison is the owner and creator of the cutest darn images and she has created this new challenge blog too.  One busy lady!  She also runs the Free Digital Stamps blog which links you to each days' free digital images available in cyberspace.  You might see me posting on that site from time to time to help her out.

Do You Stack Up is a challenge blog for everyone, no matter what skill level you think you're at.  And it is for cards, scrapbooks, mixed media and everything you may be cooking up.  Not food cooking, just crafty cooking.  Even the Design Team is comprised of various skill levels.  I'm part of the team and I've only been into card-making for 2 years.  And I'm brand-spanking new to blogging!  I've listed the team members over to the right side, and I know they would love a visit from you.  Go on over to DYSU, sign up for a chance at the blog candy, and become a follower so you don't miss out on all the fun!

First Post

Wow. My first personal blog post.
Okay, so it's not a big "whoop" for all of you 'out there'.
It just seems like this post is important since its the first. For some reason it is really scary!  Sure hope I get over that!

Here a card I made this week. I've used a Designed 2 Delight image and a Shirley's 2 Girls sentiment.  I've entered this card into the challenge at Delightful Inspiration which I try to do every week.  You get a free image every time you enter their challenge!  I love that.
I made the effort to paper-piece the image for once!  I love the look of paper-piecing, but I just don't seem to plan ahead when I am printing my images and I rarely use the technique. I cut a mask out of a second copy of the image and the sentiment and applied removable glue to the back.  After positioning the masks, I stamped Provo Craft's snowflake acrylic stamps with Versamark ink and clear embossing powder in a random fashion.  Then Ranger Distress inks were sponged on the background. The bow is on top of a snowflake I crocheted.  Hope I can find that crochet pattern again so I can make another snowflake.  I think it really punched up the card.
I guess that is quite enough about the card AND for my first post!
