Pretend Play

I've got another sneak peek at tomorrow's Stamp of the Month image by Designed2Delight.  This image looks to me like a little girl playing pretend fairy.

This is "Flutterby Fairy" and I think she is precious!
To have received her for free, you would've had to play in last week's challenge at Delightful Inspirations. Or, you can go to the Designed2Delight shop and purchase her starting tomorrow.
Here is my card using  "Flutterby Fairy" and a sentiment by TLC Creations:
Apparently, I can't tell the difference between fairies and angels!!  Even though the image is called "Flutterby Fairy" I chose a sentiment about an angel. *thumping head*   Oh well, too late now!
Her wings look so dark in this picture.  They are pretty gold sparkly wings (Stickles) because this little girl LOVES gold.  Don't we all?!

Some of you may like my clouds, so I will tell you what I did.  I took some chipboard I had lying around and freehand cut some cloud shapes.  I used those as masks.  I also masked the little girl.  I sponged Ranger Distress inks all over until I was an inky mess.  So fun!   *grin*
When I removed the cloud masks I used a fine point Pentel pen to add dashes to the clouds and all around the outer edge.

I did not have a small red flower brad, so I embossed red glitter on to a pink flower brad.  I had used red Stickles on the heart on her shirt and I wanted to match that.

One last detail, I used some discarded product packaging chipboard for the red flowers I diecut.

Okay, enough boring details about the card.  I'm entering it in these challenges:
PaperPlay - use something not intended for crafting
Paper Sundaes - sparkle, diecuts, yellow
Pollycraft - fun & games
Scrap-Creations - flowers
Tuesday Throwdown - brads or eyelets
Creative Card Crew - child's play
Party Time Tuesdays - anything goes
Simon Says Stamp - anything goes
The Stamping Boutique - winged things
I hope everyone has a great day filled with creative pastimes!

Do You Stack Up Challenge #17 Make it POP

Did everyone have fun at our Easter Blog Hop?  Lots of you won prizes and I know that's fun!
We really enjoyed putting the hop together, even though there were a few snags.  We learned a lot from them, with your help of course!
We are now back to the regular way of doing challenges, where we actually tell you what the theme is!

We are going to POP IT which for our challenge means making something pop off the page, as in 3D or using pop dots or a folding card that pops up.
I hope you could see in the above snippet photo that I have popped up a couple of layers of those little flowers. But, more about my card later.
We must talk prizes first!! Our sponsors this week are:
Stitchy Bear Stamps will be giving away a  $10 Gift Voucher for images by Stitchy Stamps, Floppy Latte Designs, Beary Dust Stamps.
Digis with Attitude is giving a $10 CAD ( Canadian Funds)  Gift Certificate for their store.
Blackleaf Studios will be giving away the super cute "Welcome to the jungle" digital stamp set.
Yea! Great prizes aren't they?!!
******************************
I chose to use a Stitchy Bear Stamp called "Flapper" for my example, or inspiration card.
I used the Shaving Cream technique for the background which smells so good!
For the Flapper, I used my smallest stamp mounting block and inked it up good with Ranger Distress ink 'Scattered Straw'.  I pressed it onto the very smooth card stock prior to printing the Flapper.  I was at the printer with the black embossing powder to pour it on as the print came out.  You can see some of the embossing in the snippet picture up top.
I decided to tear around the Flapper, instead of the usual straight cutting or die cutting.  Then I painted the torn edges with the same Distress ink and topped it off with some Iridescent Medium.  Love the sparkle it has.  Of course I had to pop it up off the card.  I have two layers of flowers popped up.
I have to admit, I'm pretty darn happy with the way this card turned out. *grin*
You have got to check out the Design Team's work at DYSU this week.  Incredible!

I'm going to enter this card in the following challenges:
Paper Sundaes - sparkle and yellow
Scrap-Creations - flowers
Cludia & Co - CAS
Crafts & Me - vintage/distress
Party Time Tuesdays - anything goes
Simon Says Stamp - anything goes

The King has an announcement!!

This is a very hands-on kind of king.  He actually blows the horn himself when he has an announcement. If you want it done right......

This King is by Hambo Stamps and was the next progressive freebie on Hambo Hoedown.  I got really inspired by this King because I thought I might be able to mask him and add a background.
It wasn't terribly difficult to cut the mask out.  This is just an A2 size card though, so I could have sized the image a bit bigger to make it easier on myself.  Why would I do that?!!  I love the struggle creative process!

There is a ton of ink on this card.  The colors are a bit deeper IRL. I used Ranger Distress inks to water-color the image.  Then I masked the image and sponged more Distress inks on the background.  And used them for stamping in some foliage.  I really had a blast making this.  Thanks Hambo!!

I'm entering this beauty (yes, I'm proud of it!) into the following challenges:

Hambo Hoedown – use King and a special announcement
AudSentiments – anything goes
Pile it On – use rubber stamp (bird, trees)
Paper Playtime - weather

Thanks for dropping by!
